OUR MISSION
ABRAMS LEARNING TRENDS is an innovative, quality-driven, early-childhood through grade 3 publisher of supplemental materials that are based upon national and state standards. The products support instruction in the areas of literacy, reading, language arts, science, math, and social studies.
OUR HISTORY
ABRAMS LEARNING TRENDS enjoys national success as the publisher of the Letter People for both the Pre-K and Kindergarten classroom. To date, more than thirty-five million children have found beginning reading success with both Let’s Begin with the Letter People and Land of the Letter People.
ABRAMS LEARNING TRENDS has recently added innovative supplemental materials to its portfolio of products supporting instruction in reading/language arts, literacy, and the content areas of science, mathematics, and social studies. All products are designed to support both national and state standards and provide instructional help to teachers and administrators as they strive to meet the diverse needs in today’s differentiated classroom environment.
OUR PRODUCTS
Let’s Begin with the Letter People © 2009 is a comprehensive core preschool curriculum that covers all developmental domains, including language and vocabulary development, emergent literacy, math, science, social studies, creative arts, technology, large- and small-motor development, health, safety, and socio-emotional development. The engaging Letter People Puppets, their songs, and their stories stimulate imagination and draw all children into the learning process by becoming their friends and language partners. Let’s Begin aligns well with early childhood standards in key states and with the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework, Head Start Quality Standards, and Head Start Performance Standards. Similarly, Land of the Letter People is a core curriculum for kindergarten. Each program is research-based and has been rigorously pilot tested in more than 100 classrooms across the country–a process involving several thousand students at each grade level. Both programs also support the recent findings of Developing Early Literacy: Report of the National Early Literacy Panel.
In January 2009 Key Links Literacy, was launched delivering 140 leveled books and 18 shared readers for students in grades K–2. This series was developed and authored by Jill Eggleton, an international expert in early literacy instruction, and is designed to engage the student in both fiction and nonfiction text. This standards-based literacy program provides a one-of-a-kind teacher focus panel on every spread in the student’s book. This gives teachers the support questions and the scaffolded skill sets needed to make their preparation time minimal, while providing the explicit instruction needed to make each book meaningful.
Interactive Big Books (K–2) addresses the key content areas of science, math, and social studies and aligns with the NCTM, NSTA, and NCSS standards and strands. With 60 titles in English and Spanish these big books are perfect for large group instruction with interactive activities as an integral part of every book and supported by a separate teacher’s guide for each title.
Other recently released programs includes Abrams Math Readers (K–2), Ms. W’s Word Workshop (vocabulary for K–2), and the Letter People Puppets.
